The Mellicciano estate is home to a handful of buildings, spread throughout the beautiful Val d'Elsa hills, where vineyards, woods and olive groves alternate. The sixteenth-century Villa Mellicciano, one of the 36 villas of the former San Miniato estate, is the largest and oldest building and is situated in the middle of the farm.
Villa Mellicciano is situated along the Via Francigena, the medieval pilgrims' way that begins in Rome. Via Francigena crosses Via Volterrana, and is right in the middle of all the major Tuscan towns; Florence, Siena, San Gimignano, Certaldo, Volterra, Pisa and Lucca. Villa Mellicciano is an ideal place to relax, but if you are feeling energetic there is good mountain-biking, walking and jogging around the estate.
Old villa of the thirteenth century lying among vineyards and olive groves in the San Miniato area (8 km), a few kilometres from Castelfiorentino (8 km) where there stands a fortress built on top of an old roman village. The villa, renovated but respecting its original architectural features, lies in the middle of lovely grounds with ancient trees and a beautiful view over the hills of the valley of Val d'Elsa.
A well-cared for garden offers small spaces for relaxing outside and the swimming-pool, which lies in a nice quiet spot, is very inviting for taking a plunge or for sun-bathing.
